four wheel drive for outfit photos

top: h&m/ skirt: sister’s/ wedges: target/ necklace: c/o max and chloe

I am once again reworking a dress of my sister Frankie’s into something else. The only positive of her moving out of our house is the fact that she left a closet full of clothes in her bedroom for me to rummage. Last time I wore this awkward dress as a top. Today I am wearing this dress you see here as a skirt. I have now beyond a doubt proven to my myself that I can not just wear a dress as is. Clearly a strong force makes me over think them.

How fun is this necklace from Max and Chloe? I love the metal links paired with the tiny rhinestones. Perfect juxtaposition of rough with feminine.

Mister drove his truck to this dirt road to take my pictures on Sunday. He decided to drive up onto the dirt embankment on the side of the road rather fast (if you knew Matt then you would know that he had his devilish look in his eyes and his huge grin on his face) and while doing so he looked at me and said, “How funny would it be if I got stuck?” We giggled because clearly that wasn’t going to happen. Then we watched his back tires kick up dirt all the way to the windshield while not getting out of the embankment.

Having to use four wheel drive while taking outfit pictures? A typically hysterical moment with my husband.

  1. this looks great, and i just have to say that i think it’s great you don’t just wear a dress as a dress, because it means you’re creative with your clothes!

also, matt sounds so much like chris when it comes to driving! anytime he gets a mischievous grin and gives me the side eye, i know something (probably illegal) is about to happen.

  2. You look great and like you’re having a lot of fun with the 4 wheel drive! I really wish I could let the boy get all devilish when I’m in the car – but I’m a total wuss when it comes to the crazy driving.

So, the dress as a skirt… is the top of the dress folded under? Does it feel uncomfortable or bulky? It’s such a fun pattern – I like that you calmed it down with the simple black top.

    • Hey Molly! The top is folded down and underneath the skirt. It is actually a tube top dress with a simple cotton top- not linen like the skirt so it is really easy to tuck under and not have it feel bulky or annoying.

  3. Sounds like a fun day taking photos! Definitely makes taking photos way more interesting :) And cute outfit –I like how you were creative with changing up a dress to a skirt –looks great!

  6. LOL, that is pretty funny about the four wheel drive! Definitely a unique photo shoot! Your necklace is crazy awesome, I love it!

  7. it’s a tough life being a blogger!! i love your necklace and your dress/skirt/fancy remix item! i think it’s hilarious that you just can’t wear a dress. maybe you should do a week challenge where all you do is wear dresses!

    • It is hilarious and sad at the same time :) This challenge idea sounds fantastic. Although- part of my problem is that I have resorted to not buying dresses since I try to make them so much more than they are!

  8. I love the tribal vibe you’ve got going on in this look!

That sounds like something my hubby would do with his truck. Two years ago we got like 2 feet of snow in the winter which he decided he’d play in it with the truck and of course it got stuck!

  15. How lucky you are! I only grew up with a brother, so no clothes sharing there! My mom and I do wear the same size shoes though and she has really fun style!

I love the brightly patterned skirt/dress on you! Very cute styling!

    • O man. I love having two sisters. I feel lucky (we didn’t all always get along, but now that we are older, I feel like I have two of the best friends a girl could ask for).
